Research within the Medical Humanities Network

The network's research activities are currently focused on initiating research in three main areas.

The first of these three key areas will focus on how mobile digital technologies are changing the way we look at our bodies.

The second main area focuses on how humanities research and methodology can interact and affect the work in the healthcare field. Within this main area initiated research on the illness narrative can be a resource for the treatment of mental illness. Another project in this subject area is a collaboration between the network and the drug abuse clinic at Östra Hospital in Gothenburg, which aims to gather knowledge on how to work with patients, depending on the clinic. At a later stage, this acquisition of knowledge is also helping to develop dependence clinic work with the patients.

The network's third main area is based on the participation of the University of Gothenburg Centres for Global Societal Challenges (UGOT Challenges). The network of medical humanities is involved in the Centre for Critical Heritage Studies and is working within the framework of this research centre on issues related to the relationship between cultural heritage, well-being and health (Heritage and Wellbeing).
